How a CSI collector cleans your air
Our modular cartridge collectors are built from heavy 11-gauge steel and clean their own filters while they run. Start with what you need today and add modules as the shop grows.
- Dirty air in Smoke and dust are pulled from the shop through the duct and into the collector.
- Filters capture it Particles stop at the cartridge filters. Clean air passes through into the clean-air plenum.
- Clean air returns The blower sends filtered air back into the building—the heat you paid for stays inside.
- Filters clean themselves A pulse of compressed air knocks the dust cake off the filters and down into the hopper.

How do I know what size dust collector I need?
Start with your building volume and how many times per hour the air needs to turn over. That gives you CFM—try our sizing tool. From there we match the collector, filter area and duct sizes to your processes. A walkthrough lets us confirm the numbers.
Will a dust collector really lower my heating bill?
It can. CSI collectors return filtered air to the building instead of blowing it outside, so the heat stays in and the doors stay shut. Our returned-air systems have been proven to cut heating costs by 50% or more. Results depend on your building and how you run it today.
Standard or nanofiber filters—which do I need?
Standard filters handle general ventilation like welding smoke. Nanofiber-coated filters are the better choice for heavier dust and plasma cutting. We typically size general ventilation at a 2:1 air-to-cloth ratio and heavy loads at 1:1.
Does the downdraft table need ductwork?
No. The CSI downdraft fixture table is self-contained, with filters and a variable-speed blower built in. It comes in three sizes, with or without a motor.
Can I install a system myself?
Yes. We help design the system and supply the collector, duct and components so your crew can install it. Parts ship via UPS, truck freight or local delivery.
Can you remove or move an old system?
Yes. We take out old collectors and duct and can relocate equipment to a new layout or building. Modular Quick-Fit duct clamps together, so it can be taken apart and reused.
Do you work with woodshops and sawmills?
We do. Metal shops are our focus, but we design sawdust collection systems for woodworking shops and sawmills too.
